Guidelines for presentations

Oral presentations
Each oral presentation will be given 15 minutes (10-12 minutes for presentation and 3-5 minutes for discussion). Computer projection will be available. Presentations should be prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint or PDF and saved to either a CD or flash drive. If a presenter prefers software other than Microsoft Power Point or PDF, they must contact to the Secretariat.

Please contact the Symposium desk on arrival and transfer your presentation to the Symposium computer in order to review and solve, if necessary, any incompatibility issues. To ensure the smooth running of the Symposium, your presentation has to be transferred to the Symposium computer at least 30 minutes before the beginning of your Session.

The size of posters should be A0 (118.9x84.1 cm ; 46.81x33.11 inch) Portrait orientation. Abstract title, authors and affiliation should appear on the top of the poster. Lettering for the title should be at least 2 cm (0.79 inch) tall. Posters will be hung on walls in the Symposium Venue foyer. Materials to affix the poster will be supplied at the Symposium desk. Authors are requested to hang their posters up at the beginning of the Symposium and to leave them up for the duration of the Symposium.

For the best poster there will be an award of € 150.- !

Poster pitches
During the symposium we will pay special attention to the posters. Within the orals program some 15 minute periods are scheduled to be poster pitch sessions. In the poster pitch session about ten poster authors are put in line and are allowed to use max 90 seconds per person to highlight the subject and attract the people to come and visit the poster in the poster visits.

  • A pitch is only 90 seconds sharp! Practice with a timer!
  • Use a slide, which is not your poster slide
  • Use just three lines of large text
  • One max. two graph/tables on this slide
  • State background, goal, what you reached and how it can be applied (leave out methods)
  • Say why (some) people should not leave without seeing you and your poster.
